The short version
Your expenses, budgets and bills are stored on your phone. Signing in is optional and only needed for cloud backup. When you use an AI feature, only what that answer needs is sent to be processed, and it is not stored on our servers. We don’t sell your data, show ads based on it or make it public. You can delete your account and data at any time.
Who we are
“Mowzoon”, “we” and “us” mean the team that makes the Mowzoon app (also called موزون) and this website, mawzun.site. This policy covers the Mowzoon app for Android and iOS and this website. If you have a question, write to [email protected].
Data that stays on your phone
Mowzoon is built to work on your device. The following is saved in the app’s private storage on your phone and is not uploaded to us:
- your country, main currency, monthly income, payday and savings goal;
- your expenses — amount, shop or payee, category, date, notes and the receipt photos you choose to keep;
- your budgets, category limits, recurring bills, income sources and exchange rates;
- your settings, such as language and notification preferences.
It leaves your phone only when you use an AI feature (see below) or turn on cloud backup.
When you use AI features
Mowzoon’s AI features — Talk to Mowzoon, AI Insights, the AI Budget Builder and smart receipt read — run on our servers with the help of OpenAI. When you use one, the app sends only what that answer needs, over an encrypted connection:
| Feature | What is sent |
|---|---|
| Talk to Mowzoon | Your message or voice recording, recent messages in the conversation, and the parts of your finances needed to answer — for example your budget figures, categories, bills and recent expenses. |
| AI Insights | A summary of your finances: income, spending by category and period, budgets, bills and savings goal. |
| AI Budget Builder | Your income, payday, bills, savings goal, categories and past spending by category. |
| Smart receipt read | The photo of the receipt you are reading. |
Our servers pass the request to OpenAI to produce the answer and send the answer back to your phone. We do not store the content of your requests, conversations, recordings or receipt photos on our servers. Under OpenAI’s API terms, data sent through its API is not used to train its models; OpenAI may keep it for a limited time to detect abuse. AI answers can be wrong — please check them before relying on them.
Receipt scanning
When you scan a receipt, the text is read on your phone with Google’s ML Kit; the photo is not sent to us or to Google for that. ML Kit may send Google technical information about how the feature performs, but not your receipt. The photo is only uploaded if you choose smart receipt read (described above).
Optional account and cloud backup
You can use Mowzoon without an account. If you choose to sign in — with email and password or with Google — sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication, a Google service, and we keep your email address, how you signed in and when you were last active.
If you are a Mowzoon Pro subscriber and sign in, the app can back up your data to our servers so you can restore it on a new phone. We keep your latest backup, linked to your account, until you delete it or your account.
Subscriptions and purchases
Mowzoon Pro is sold through Google Play and the App Store. They handle payment; we never see your card or bank details. To confirm that a subscription is valid, we receive and keep the purchase details the store provides — such as the product, purchase token, status, renewal state and expiry date — linked to your app ID. Purchases are processed and checked by RevenueCat, our subscription service, which receives the same details and your app ID from the app and the store.
Usage limits and your app ID
When you install Mowzoon, it creates a random app ID that doesn’t contain your name, phone number or email. We use it to count, each month, how many AI actions and receipt scans you have used, so the Free plan’s limits and Pro’s fair use can work. We keep the monthly counts and a unique number for each request, so nothing is counted twice — not the content of the request.
Analytics
To understand how Mowzoon is used and how our plans page performs, the app records a small set of events: opening the plans page and from where, choosing a plan, a purchase starting, succeeding or failing, restoring a purchase, choosing to continue with Free, reaching a monthly limit, seeing and answering the daily “Anything you forgot to log today?” card, your weekly report being ready and opened and whether its AI summary was created, and staying on track with your money for several days in a row. Each event carries only: the plan or store offer, where the plans page was opened from and how you left it, a store error code if a purchase fails, whether you are on Free or Pro, your country (one of the six GCC countries, or “other”), your platform and the app’s language.
The app sends these events only to our own servers, together with your app ID. No outside analytics service receives them.
Analytics never include amounts, balances, expenses, receipt contents or AI conversations.
Permissions and notifications
- Camera — to scan receipts, only when you open the scanner.
- Microphone — to talk to Mowzoon, only while you are recording.
- Notifications — for bill reminders and budget and savings alerts. These are created on your phone.
You can change these permissions at any time in your phone’s settings.
How we use data
We use the data described here only to provide the features you use, answer your AI requests, verify purchases and apply plan limits, restore your backup, keep the service secure and prevent abuse, understand how the app is used and improve it, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising or build advertising profiles.
Who we share data with
- OpenAI — processes AI requests on our behalf.
- Google — Firebase Authentication (sign-in), Google Play (purchases) and ML Kit (on-device text reading).
- Apple — App Store purchases on iPhone.
- RevenueCat — processes and checks subscription purchases on our behalf.
- Our hosting provider — runs the servers that store accounts, backups and usage counts.
- Authorities — only when the law requires it.
These providers may process data outside your country. We only work with providers that protect it under their own terms.
How long we keep data
- On your phone — until you delete it, clear the app’s data or uninstall the app.
- Account and backup — until you delete your account; we complete deletion requests within 30 days.
- Purchase records — while your subscription is active, and afterwards only as long as needed for accounting, legal and fraud-prevention reasons.
- Usage counts and analytics — only as long as needed to apply limits and understand how the app is used; they are not linked to your name or email.
Security
Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to our servers is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep what we store to the minimum described in this policy.
Your choices and rights
You can use Mowzoon without an account, turn permissions off, and delete individual expenses or all of the app’s data on your phone. Depending on where you live — for example under Saudi Arabia’s Personal Data Protection Law and other data protection laws in the GCC — you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data and to object to its use. To delete your account, follow the steps on Delete account. For anything else, write to [email protected]; we reply within 30 days.
Children
Mowzoon is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Mowzoon changes. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, let you know in the app or on this website before they take effect.
